Artefact #: 721
luisa.cappellari

This postcard was written to his family by an italian soldier who found himself in Florence during his military levy when, on the 8th of september 1943, Italy firmed the armistice with the Allies freeing itself from the pact of alliance with nazi Germany. The lieutenant, Antonio Arnaldi, belonged to an anti-fascit family and, since he refused to enlist in the fascit army, he was incarcereted in the labor camps of nazi Germany. In the moment in which this postcard was written, Antonio Arnaldi still did not know where he would be taken to (they had told him he was supposed to go to Modena) and lived in a state of uncertanty. Probably, not trusting the postal service, he entrusted his writings tu brave people who he managed to approach, as it can be understood by the post-scrittum: "The lieutenant, passing through Trento, tasked me with giving you this postcard-Rina Bonisegna".
